NOTE
The under-bench air conditioner can lower the temperature within
the vehicle to a certain level. The temperature depends on the
type of vehicle, the ambient temperature and the cooling capacity
of your under-bench air conditioner.
Below an outer temperature of 16 °C the under-bench air condi-
tioner doesn’t cool anymore. In this case only use the air condi-
tioning mode “Circulating air” ( ).

6.1 Components
The refrigerant circuit of the under-bench air conditioner consists of the
following main components (fig. 1, page 3):
z Compressor (1)
The compressor draws in the refrigerant used and compresses it. This
raises the pressure and therefore the temperature of the refrigerant.
z Condenser (2)
The built-in liquefier works like a cooler or heat exchanger. The air flow-
ing past absorbs the heat and the hot refrigerant gas cools down and
becomes liquid.
z Evaporator (3)
The evaporators cool down and dehumidify the air flowing past them.
The refrigerant absorbs the heat and vaporises.
z Blower (4)
A blower distributes the cooled or heated air within the vehicle through
an air outlet unit.

4 Orange LED Constantly lit: the heat pump mode is active.
Flashing: the heat pump mode is active, but the air
conditioner is not yet producing hot air, because the
defrost function or the preventing cold air function is
active.
The defrost function prevents ice on the external battery
exchanger while in heat pump mode.
The preventing cold air function prevents that cold air is
blown into the vehicle while in heat pump mode.
Off: any other mode is active.
5 Yellow LED Constantly lit: the timer mode is active.
Off: the timer mode is not active.

Explanation
Automatic In this mode the under-bench air conditioner sets
the temperature (set point) automatically and
manages the compressor, heat pump and fan
speed by comparing the set point with the room
temperature and it sets the corresponding condi-
tioning mode (see following table).
The , + and buttons are deactivated in this
mode.
Cooling You specify the temperature and blower settings,
and the under-bench air conditioner cools the
interior to this temperature.
Circulating air You specify the blower level, and the under-
bench air conditioner blows air into the interior
.
Dehumidification You specify the temperature, and the under-
bench air conditioner cools the interior to this
temperature and controls the necessary blower
output and dehumidifys the interior (Circulating
air mode).

7 Before initial use
Inspection before starting up
Before you switch on the under-bench air conditioner, observe the following:
Check whether the supply voltage and frequency correspond to the
values specified in the technical data, see page 31.
Ensure both the air intake opening and the air nozzles are free. All venti-
lation grilles must always be kept free to ensure that the under-bench air
conditioner is able to operate at maximum capacity.
!
Check remote control and insert batteries
Insert the provided batteries in the remote control battery compartment,
see chapter “Replacing the remote control batteries” on page 24.
Check that the four Dip switches (fig. 4 1, page 4) are in the correct
position.
If you changed the position of the Dip switches:
Acknowledge the new setting using the Reset button (fig. 3 11, page 4).
Setting the time
Set the current time: see chapter “Setting the time” on page 25.
CAUTION! Beware of injury
Do not insert your fingers or objects into the air nozzles or the
intake grille.

8 Operating the under-bench air
conditioner
8.1 Basic notes on operation
The under-bench air conditioner has three operating modes:
The receiver switches on when it receives pulses from the remote control.
The display shows (flashing) the temperature setting, after 10 seconds the
display shows the room temperature, then it switches off.
You can use the remote control to
z switch the under-bench air conditioner to and from stand-by mode.
z adjust the settings.
z select additional functions.
8.2 Using the remote control
The remote control must be pointed at the IR receiver (fig. 2 4, page 3) on
the receiver during operation.
When a button is pressed, the value is transmitted directly to the under-bench
air conditioner. The under-bench air conditioner confirms the receipt of data
with a high note.
Switching only the remote control to or from stand-by
In stand-by mode, the remote control display shows only the time.
If the remote control is not pointing to the IR receiver (fig. 2
4, page 3) on
the control panel, you can activate the remote control or switch it to stand-by
independently from the under-bench air conditioner:
Press the button.
Operating mode Features
Stand-by The under-bench air conditioner is ready for operation and can
be switched on with the remote control.
On The under-bench air conditioner is conditioning the air in the
interior.

8.3 Hint for improved use
The following hints will optimise the performance of your under-bench air
conditioner:
z Improve the heat insulation of your vehicle by sealing gaps and hanging
reflective blinds or curtains on your windows.
z If the vehicle has been subjected to direct sunlight for a long time: Operate
the under-bench air conditioner in the “Circulating air” ( ) mode with the
windows open for a while before switching on the “Cooling” ( ) air con-
ditioning mode.
z Avoid opening doors and windows as far as possible in the “Cooling” ( )
mode.
z Select an appropriate temperature and blower speed.
z Align the air nozzles sensibly.
z Make sure the air nozzles and intake grille are not covered by cloths,
paper or other objects.
z Clean the air filter periodically.
8.4 Switching the under-bench air conditioner on and
off
I
When you switch on the under-bench air conditioner, the device waits a few
minutes before operating the compressor.
NOTE
z When it is switched on, it begins to condition the air to the
values that were set most recently.
z You can use the remote control to switch the under-bench air
conditioner to and from stand-by mode. Press the button.
z You can operate the under-bench by remote control and via
LIN bus. If you use LIN bus control the receiver is not required.
z Don‘t use the under-bench air conditioner if the vehicle is tilted
more than 10°.
