Intended Use

The Accu-Chek LinkAssist insertion device is intended for the insertion of the head set of the

Accu-Chek FlexLink infusion set (USA: Accu-Chek Ultraflex infusion set) into the skin. The

insertion device can be reused multiple times. The insertion device is intended to be used by one

person only and must not be used by other people.

Before You Get Started

Read these instructions for use and the instructions for use of the Accu-Chek FlexLink infusion

set (USA: Accu-Chek Ultraflex infusion set) before using the insertion device.

If the insertion device was dropped or exposed to other mechanical stress, check it for damages,

e.g. cracks. Do not use the insertion device if it is damaged.

Information describing a situation for which there is a foreseeable serious hazard with the use of

the device, is preceded by the following heading:

Inserting the Cannula into the Skin

Risk of injury

If a head set is inserted into the insertion device, the head set could be released accidentally.

Do not point the inserted head set at your face or other people.

• Push the pretensioning element of the insertion device into the base.

• Remove the head set of the infusion set from the packaging.

• Hold the head set by the needle cover.

• Insert the head set, with the blue handling aid pointing upwards, into the insertion device, until

you feel the head set click into place.

Risk of infection or injury

If you remove the needle cover, the introducer needle of head set is not protected anymore.

Take care and do not touch the introducer needle.

• Remove the needle cover.

Tip: The small tab on the protective film of the adhesive pad indicates the side of the head set to

which you will later connect the transfer set. See illustration A.

• Remove both parts of the protective film from the adhesive pad.

• Pull the pretensioning element upwards, away from the base, as far as it will go.

W PRECAUTION

Risk of injury

If the safety catch is in the position, the insertion device is no longer locked. The head set

could be released accidentally.

Do not slide the safety catch to the position, until you have the insertion device placed on your

skin.

• Place the insertion device onto the chosen infusion site, holding it horizontally. It must be

positioned in such a way that the whole surface of each contact area on the base of the

insertion device is resting on the skin.

Tip: You should be able to comfortably reach the side of the head set which had the small tab on

the protective film. That is where you will later connect the transfer set.

• Slide the safety catch to the position. The insertion device is now unlocked.

• Press the release button. The cannula is inserted under the skin.

• Remove the insertion device.

If the head set of the infusion set is still in the insertion device, push the pretensioning element

back into the base. Continue with step 5.

If the cannula is not properly positioned under the skin, remove the adhesive pad from the skin

and pull out the cannula. Start at step 1 with a new head set.

• Press the adhesive pad onto the skin.

• Continue with removing the handling aid of the head set. Follow the instructions for use of the

infusion set.

Cleaning the Insertion Device

• Moisten a cloth with water, with a mild hand soap or with a standard disinfectant (for example,

70 % ethanol).

• Wipe the outside of the insertion device. Do not dip the insertion device into the cleaning

fluids.

• Allow the insertion device to dry completely.

Storing the Insertion Device

Keep the product dry and away from sunlight.

Store the insertion device with the pretensioning element retracted and without tension. See

illustration B.

• Pull the pretensioning element upwards, away from the base, as far as it will go.

• Slide the safety catch to the position.

• Press the release button.

Disposing of the Insertion Device

• Dispose of the insertion device as plastic waste.

For information about correct disposal, contact your local council or authority.

Reporting of Serious Incidents

For a patient/user/third party in the European Union and in countries with identical regulatory

regime (Regulation 2017/745/EU on medical devices); if, during the use of this device or as a

result of its use, a serious incident has occurred, please report it to the manufacturer and to your

national authority.

Guarantee

There is a guarantee of 18 months on the Accu-Chek LinkAssist insertion device for materials and

workmanship, from the date of purchase.

Vorgesehene Anwendung

Die Accu-Chek LinkAssist Setzhilfe dient zum Einführen der Kanüle des Accu-Chek FlexLink

Infusionssets in die Haut. Die Setzhilfe kann mehrfach verwendet werden. Die Setzhilfe ist

ausschließlich zur Verwendung durch 1 Person vorgesehen und darf nicht von anderen Personen

verwendet werden.

Informationen zum Gebrauch

Lesen Sie diese Gebrauchsanweisung und die Gebrauchsanweisung für das Accu-Chek FlexLink

Infusionsset, bevor Sie die Setzhilfe verwenden.

Wenn die Setzhilfe heruntergefallen ist oder einer anderen mechanischen Belastung ausgesetzt

war, überprüfen Sie sie auf Schäden wie Risse. Verwenden Sie die Setzhilfe nicht, wenn sie

beschädigt ist.

Informationen, die Umstände einer absehbaren ernsthaften Gefahr im Zusammenhang mit dem

Wenn eine Kanüle in die Setzhilfe eingelegt ist, kann die Kanüle unbeabsichtigt ausgelöst

werden.

Halten Sie die eingelegte Kanüle nicht in Richtung Ihres Gesichts oder anderer Personen.

• Schieben Sie das Spannelement der Setzhilfe in den Fuß.

• Nehmen Sie die Kanüle des Infusionssets aus der Verpackung.

• Halten Sie die Kanüle an der Nadelabdeckung fest.

• Setzen Sie die Kanüle mit dem blauen Griff voran in die Setzhilfe, bis die Kanüle fühlbar

einrastet.

Infektions- oder Verletzungsgefahr

Wenn Sie die Nadelabdeckung abziehen, ist die Führungsnadel der Kanüle nicht mehr geschützt.

Seien Sie vorsichtig und berühren Sie die Führungsnadel nicht.

• Ziehen Sie die Nadelabdeckung ab.

Tipp: Die kleine Lasche an der Schutzfolie des Pflasters zeigt die Seite der Kanüle an, an der Sie

später den Schlauch ankoppeln. Siehe Bild A.

• Ziehen Sie beide Teile der Schutzfolie vom Pflaster ab.

• Ziehen Sie das Spannelement bis zum Anschlag aus dem Fuß heraus.

Verletzungsgefahr

Steht der Sicherungshebel auf Position , so ist die Setzhilfe nicht länger gesichert. Die Kanüle

könnte unbeabsichtigt ausgelöst werden.

Legen Sie den Sicherungshebel nicht auf die Position um, bevor Sie die Setzhilfe auf Ihrer

Haut platziert haben.

• Setzen Sie die Setzhilfe gerade auf die gewählte Infusionsstelle. Dazu müssen die beiden

Auflageflächen am Fuß der Setzhilfe vollständig auf der Haut aufliegen.

Tipp: Die Seite der Kanüle, an der vorher die kleine Lasche an der Schutzfolie saß, sollte für Sie

bequem erreichbar sein. Dort koppeln Sie später den Schlauch an.

• Legen Sie den Sicherungshebel um, so dass er auf der Position steht. Die Setzhilfe ist jetzt

entsichert.

• Drücken Sie den Auslöseknopf. Die Kanüle wird unter die Haut gesetzt.

• Nehmen Sie die Setzhilfe ab.

Wenn die Kanüle des Infusionssets noch in der Setzhilfe steckt, schieben Sie das Spannelement

wieder in den Fuß. Fahren Sie mit Schritt 5 fort.

Wenn die Kanüle nicht richtig unter der Haut sitzt, lösen Sie das Pflaster von der Haut ab und

ziehen Sie die Kanüle heraus. Beginnen Sie mit einer neuen Kanüle bei Schritt 1.

• Drücken Sie das Pflaster auf der Haut fest.

• Ziehen Sie dann den Griff von der Kanüle ab. Beachten Sie die Gebrauchsanweisung des

Infusionssets.

Setzhilfe reinigen

• Feuchten Sie ein Tuch mit Wasser, mit einem milden Handreinigungsmittel oder mit einem

Standarddesinfektionsmittel (z. B. 70 %igem Äthanol) an.

• Wischen Sie die Außenseite der Setzhilfe ab. Tauchen Sie die Setzhilfe nicht in die

Reinigungsflüssigkeiten ein.

• Lassen Sie die Setzhilfe gründlich trocknen.

Setzhilfe aufbewahren

Bewahren Sie das Produkt trocken und vor Sonnenlicht geschützt auf.

Lagern Sie die Setzhilfe mit herausgezogenem Spannelement und im entspannten Zustand. Siehe

Bild B.

• Ziehen Sie das Spannelement bis zum Anschlag aus dem Fuß heraus.

• Legen Sie den Sicherungshebel um, so dass er auf der Position steht.

• Drücken Sie den Auslöseknopf.

Setzhilfe entsorgen

• Die Setzhilfe kann als normaler Kunststoffabfall entsorgt werden.

Informationen zur korrekten Entsorgung erhalten Sie bei Ihrer Stadt- oder Gemeindeverwaltung.

Für Patienten/Benutzer/Dritte innerhalb der Europäischen Union und in Ländern mit ähnlicher

Regulierungspraxis (Verordnung (EU) 2017/745 über Medizinprodukte) gilt: Wenn bei oder infolge

der Verwendung dieses Medizinprodukts ein schwerwiegendes Vorkommnis aufgetreten ist,

melden Sie dieses bitte dem Hersteller und der entsprechenden nationalen Behörde.

Garantie

Für die Accu-Chek LinkAssist Setzhilfe gilt eine Garantie von 18 Monaten ab Kaufdatum für

Material- und Verarbeitungsfehler.
