Radio-controlled clock
Proper use
The radio clock has a date display and an alarm clock with two wake-up
times that can be set. The radio clock displays the temperature at the location
of the device as well as the barometric pressure and a trend display of
barometric pressure development. The weather trend is an additional display
value and is calculated by evaluating the barometric pressure fluctuations.

General Safety Information
Children or persons lacking knowledge or experience in handling the
device or have limited physical, sensory or mental abilities, must not use
the device without supervision or instruction by a person responsible
for their safety. Children must be supervised at all times to prevent
them from playing with the device.
CAUTION! When choosing where to position the weather station,
make sure that it is not exposed to direct sunlight. Set up the device in
a dry, dust-free interior room. Otherwise it might be damaged.
This device has delicate electronic components. Do not place the
appliance near to sources of interference, such as mobile telephones,
wireless transmitters, CB-radios, remote controls or microwaves, etc.
These may hinder reception of the radio signal.
Safety advice concerning batteries
CAUTION! EXPLOSION HAZARD! The batteries must never be
recharged!
When inserting the batteries, ensure the correct polarity! This is shown
in the battery compartments.
If necessary, clean the battery and device contacts before inserting the
battery.
Remove spent batteries immediately from the device. There is an
increased danger of leaks!
Batteries must not be disposed of in the normal domestic waste! Every
consumer is legally obliged to dispose of batteries in the proper manner!
10 GB
Keep batteries away from children. Do not throw batteries into a fire.
Never short-circuit them or take them apart.
Always replace all batteries at the same time and only use batteries of
the same type.
If the batteries in your device have leaked, remove them immediately
to prevent damage to the device!
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Any parts
of the body coming into contact with battery acid should be rinsed off
with copious amounts of water and / or a doctor contacted if necessary!
Before initial use
For wall mounting:
Note: Mounting on solid masonry walls requires a screw and a screw
anchor (ø 6 mm). Other wall substrates may require other mounting materials.
Seek specialist advice if necessary.
Use the suspension eye
12
to hang the device on a screw.
Mounting with base:
Press the pins on the base
15
into the corresponding openings on the
device (see Fig. C).
Preparations for use
After you have mounted the device, remove the protective film from the
display.
11 GB
Inserting the batteries
Open the battery compartment
13
by pushing the battery compart-
ment cover
14
slightly upwards. Open the battery compartment and
insert the included batteries (AA, 1.5 V
) aligned to the polarity indi-
cated in the battery compartment.
The weather trend display
2
begins to blink as soon as the batteries
are inserted. Use the ▼ ALARM ON / OFF
16
and ▲ °C / °F buttons
17
to select the appropriate icons for the current weather conditions. Then
confirm your selection by pressing the WEATHER / UNIT button
19
.
Note: If no buttons are pushed within 12seconds, the device begins
to search for a DCF radio signal.
DCF radio signal reception
Note: First the weather station measures the barometric pressure and
searches for the DCF radio signal. This process may take a few minutes
and is indicated by the blinking radio icon
7
.
Radio signal (DCF):
The DCF signal (time signal transmitter) consists of time pulses emitted by
one of the most accurate clocks in the world close to Frankfurt / Main,
Germany – this varies by 1 second in a million years.
In ideal conditions, your weather station can pick up this signal over a dis-
tance of up to approx. 1,500 km around Frankfurt / Main. Reception of the
radio signal generally takes approx. 3–10 minutes.
12 GB
Reception can be considerably impaired by obstacles (e.g. concrete walls)
or sources of interference (e.g. other electrical devices). In the event of re-
ception problems, change the position of the weather station (e.g. to some-
where near a window).
The time signal is updated daily at 03:00. If the search for the signal is not
successful, it is repeated at 04:00.
End the search for the radio signal (DCF) by pressing the ▲ °C / °F
17
and ▼ ALARM ON / OFF buttons
16
at the same time. Hold both
buttons pressed down for 3seconds until a tone sounds and the radio
icon in the display goes out.
You can search for the radio signal (DCF) in the same fashion. The
time can be set manually as described in the chapter “Adjusting basic
settings”.
Adjusting the basic settings
1. Press and hold down the MODE / SET button
20
for 3seconds. A
small beep tone sounds.
Note: In the following, the settings which can be adjusted blink in the
display. Different settings can be adjusted one after the other.
2. Change the pre-settings by pressing the ▲ °C / °F button
17
or
▼ ALARM ON / OFF button
16
.
3. Press the MODE / SET button to save the setting you have made. Now
the next setting is displayed.
4. If no buttons are pressed for 12seconds, the display returns to the
time display.

The following settings appear on the display:
Time format: “Hr” appears in the time display

next to “24hr / 12hr“

– Time zone: Appears next to the display “ZE”
Note: If the clock did not receive a signal when preparing for use and
you have set the time manually, the time zone also needs to be set. If the
clock is out of range, it may receive a signal only sporadically. In such a
case, when a signal is received the clock adjusts itself automatically to the
correct time of the radio signal (DCF) (= German time = MEZ = GMT+1 =
UTC +1).

It switches itself automatically to the alarm time which has already
been set.
Setting up barometric pressure
and weather trend
The display indicates the absolute current barometric pressure
3
and the
barometric pressure trend
4
by means of an arrow:
Note: After preparing for use, the geographic altitude must be communi-
cated to the device, to enable an approximate weather trend based on the
barometric pressure.
For this, it is imperative that you set the current weather. To do so,
proceed as follows:
1. Press and hold the WEATHER / UNIT button
19
until a signal sounds
and the current weather display blinks. Press the ▲ °C / °F
17
and ▼
ALARM ON / OFF buttons
16
to set the current weather.
2. Then confirm your selection of the current weather display by pressing
the WEATHER / UNIT button.
16 GB
Note: Please take the weather forecast from your local weather forecasting
service into account as well as the forecast from your weather station. If
there are discrepancies between the information from your device and
from the local weather forecasting service, please take the advice of the
latter as authoritative.
The following entries are available:

display
5
. The official unit for barometric pressure in Europe is the
hectopascal or the millibar.
Switching on the illumination
Press the SNOOZE- / LIGHT button
18
to switch off the display illumi-
nation for approximately 5seconds.
Troubleshooting
Note: This device has delicate electronic components. Do not place the
appliance near to sources of interference, such as mobile telephones, wire-
less transmitters, CB-radios, remote controls or microwaves, etc. These may
hinder reception of the radio signal.
If the display indicates malfunctions, remove the batteries and replace
them after about one minute.
Note: This resets the device to the factory settings; any settings you have
made will have to be repeated.
Cleaning and care
Clean the device only with a dry, lint-free cloth.
18 GB
Disposal
The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials which
you can dispose of at your local recycling facilities.

disposed of properly. Contact your municipal authorities for in-
formation regarding collection points and their opening hours.
Faulty or used batteries must be recycled in accordance with Directive
2006 / 66 / EC. Return batteries and / or the device via the recycling facili-
ties provided.
Pb
Environmental damage through incorrect disposal
of the batteries!
Never dispose of batteries in your household waste. They may contain
toxic heavy metals and are subject to hazardous waste regulations. The
chemical symbols of the heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury,
Pb = lead. Therefore dispose of used batteries through your local collection
site.
