content and data. The text and illustrations correspond to the technical standards at the time of

6. Before initial use
Unpack the cool box.
Check the cool box for signs of damage. If the cool box is damaged, it must not be put into
operation.
7. Initial use
For hygiene reasons, we recommend cleaning the cool box before using it for the first time. Refer to
the chapter section “8.3. Cleaning” for this.
The cool box is not suitable for continuous use! The maximum operating time is six days.
Switch off the cool box for at least two hours when it reaches the maximum operating time.
The two indentations [8] inside the lid provide space for two large flasks with a height of 420
mm.
7.1. Filling the cool box
Open the lid [2]. Place the food and drinks to be chilled inside the cool box. It is best to use pre-
chilled food and drinks for this. Close the lid [2] after filling.
7.2. Carrying the cool box
You can carry the cool box using the handle [5].
7.3. Switching the cool box on and off
7.3.1. 12 V mode
WARNING!
Y
ou must ensure that your vehicle has a 12 V
in-car electrical system. The cool box must not be put into
operation with a 24 V in-car electrical system.
Crivit REK 230 E3
English - 11
Take the connecting cable with cigarette lighter socket connection [1] out of the cable box [4].
Unwind the connecting cable fully. Now plug the cigarette lighter socket connection [1] into a
suitable cigarette lighter socket in your vehicle. The cool box is now switched on and will begin
chilling. To switch off the cool box, remove the cigarette lighter socket connection [1] from the
cigarette lighter socket in your vehicle.
The temperature control switch [6] on the front of the cool box does not function in 12 V
mode.
As cigarette lighter sockets in some vehicles still provide power when the ignition is switched
off, the cigarette lighter socket connection [1] should always be removed from the cigarette
lighter socket when leaving your vehicle. Otherwise this could significantly drain your vehicle’s
battery and therefore prevent the engine from starting up again.
To prevent items in the cool box from freezing, do not use the cool box in 12 V mode below
an ambient temperature of 18°C.
7.3.2. 230 V mode
Take the connecting cable with plug [3] out of the cable box [4]. Unwind the connecting cable
fully. Insert the plug [3] into a power socket, which is always easily accessible. Turn the temperature
control switch [6] on the front of the cool box clockwise to switch on the cool box. Now set the
temperature control switch [6] to the required cooling output. Turn the temperature control switch
[6] clockwise to increase the cooling output or anti-clockwise to reduce it.
To switch off the cool box, turn the temperature control switch [6] anti-clockwise to the “OFF”
position until it snaps into place.
Set the temperature control switch [6] to the 'ECO' position. The cool box is now in energy-
saving mode. The energy consumption level in this mode corresponds with energy class A+++.
7.4. Energy-saving tips
Do not place the cool box in direct sunlight.
Only use pre-chilled food and drinks.
Do not open the cool box for any longer than necessary and close the lid [2] properly.
Make sure that enough air can circulate between the goods being chilled. The cool box
features two indentations [8], which can accommodate two upright 2 L bottles (H 420 mm),
for example. The cool box can also hold a maximum of 36 upright 0.33 L drinks cans (W 67
mm x H 115 mm).

8. Maintenance/cleaning
8.1. Maintenance
WARNING! Maintenance work is required if the cool box
has been damaged, liquids or objects have got inside the
housing, the cool box has been exposed to rain or moisture
or if the cool box is not functioning properly or has been
dropped. If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or smells,
disconnect the cool box from the mains immediately. If this
happens, you must stop using the cool box until it has been
checked by a specialist. All maintenance work should only
be carried out by qualified specialists. Never open the
housing of the cool box.
8.2. Replacing the 12 V fuse
Proceed as follows to replace the fuse:
Remove the cigarette lighter socket connection [1] from the cigarette lighter socket.
Twist the sleeve [9] anti-clockwise until it comes loose. Now pull off the sleeve [9].
Unscrew the screw [10] using a suitable screwdriver.
Open the housing by removing the top half of the housing.
Remove the contact pin [11] and fuse [12].
Now insert a new fuse in front of the contact spring [13] and lodge the fuse into the clasp using
the contact pin to help you.
Now replace the top half of the housing and tighten the screw [10] again.
Place the sleeve [9] back on. Twist the sleeve [9] clockwise until it snaps into place.

English - 13
8.3. Cleaning
DANGER! Disconnect the connecting cable before
cleaning the power source. There is a risk of electric shock!
DANGER! In order to avoid risk, ensure that no liquids
enter the lid.
Remove the lid for cleaning by opening it as far as it will go and then pressing it from the right rear
recess.
To clean the lid, use a slightly damp cloth and never use solvents or cleaning agents that react with
plastics.
Clean the inside of the cool box using detergent and then clean water. Dry the cool box
thoroughly.
After cleaning, insert the lid again by bringing it into an upright position to the cool box. Now first
insert the lid into the left opening and then press it into the right recess.
9. Storing the device when not in use
If you do not want to use the cool box for a long period of time, please remove all items from the
cool box. Disconnect the cool box from the mains and store the connecting cable in the cable box
[4]. Make sure that the cool box is stored in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight. Allow the
lid to stay open when storing the cool box to ensure good ventilation. The lid can be fixed open
using the locking mechanism [7].
10. Troubleshooting
The cool box doesn’t seem to be working.
Check whether the cigarette lighter socket connection [1] is plugged into the cigarette lighter
socket correctly or the plug is correctly inserted into the power socket.
In 12 V mode: Turn on the ignition of your vehicle, as some vehicles will only power the
cigarette lighter socket when the ignition is on.
In 12 V mode: The fuse is faulty. Change the fuse: When doing so, refer to Section “8.2.
Replacing the 12 V fuse”.
The cool box is not chilling properly.
Place the cool box in a cooler place. When doing so, make sure that the cool box is not
exposed to direct sunlight.
Crivit REK 230 E3
14 - English
Ensure that the ventilation slots are not covered and a sufficient amount of air is able to
circulate.
In 230 V mode: Check the position of the temperature control switch [6] on the front of the cool
box and turn this clockwise to increase the cooling output if necessary.
