Filling the water tank

Your appliance has been designed to be used with tap water. In case
you live in an area with very hard water, fast scale build-up may occur.

water to prolong the lifetime of your appliance.
Do not use distilled water only, as it is slightly acidic and may cause
damage to your appliance.
Do not put perfume, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids or
other chemicals in the water tank, as your appliance is not designed to
work with these chemicals.

1 Put the iron on the stand.
2 To set the required ironing temperature, turn the temperature dial
to the appropriate position (see the ‘Temperature and steam settings’
table above).
Note: Check the laundry care label for the fabric type.
3 Set the appropriate steam setting (see the ‘Temperature and steam
settings’ table above).
Note: Make sure that the steam setting you select is suitable for the set ironing
temperature.
4 Put the mains plug in an earthed wall socket.
, The temperature light goes on to indicate that the iron is heating up.

- If the fabric consists of various kinds of bres, always select the
temperature required by the most delicate bre, i.e. the lowest
temperature. For example: if an article consists of 60% polyester and
40% cotton, it should be ironed at the temperature indicated for
polyester ( 1) and without steam.
- If you do not know what kind or kinds of fabric an article is made
of, determine the right ironing temperature by ironing a part that is
not visible when you wear or use the article.
- Silk, woollen and synthetic materials: iron the reverse side of the
fabric to prevent shiny patches. To prevent stains, do not use the spray
function.
ENGLISH10
- Start ironing the articles that require the lowest ironing temperature,
such as those made of synthetic bres.

Note: The iron may give off some smoke when you use it for the rst time.
This ceases after a short while.
Corded ironing
1 Set the mode switch to corded ironing.
2 Take the iron from the stand.
When you stop ironing for a while, you can put the iron on the stand or
on its heel.
Cordless ironing
1 Set the mode switch to cordless ironing.
2 Take the iron from the stand.
3 If you are steam ironing, put the iron back onto the stand to reheat
when the iron stops producing steam. If you are ironing without
steam, put the iron back onto the stand to reheat when the
temperature light goes on.
Note: When you stop ironing for a while, always put the iron on the stand to let
it reheat.
Note: When you use the shot-of-steam or turbo-steam function, the iron may
cool down rather quickly. We advise you to iron in corded mode when you use
these functions.
ENGLISH 11

Problem Possible cause Solution
The iron does not
produce steam.
When you use the iron in
cordless mode, it cools down
after a while. It needs to
reheat on the stand regularly.
Put the iron back onto the stand until the
temperature light goes out to indicate that the
iron is ready for use again.
The iron does not
produce steam.
The steam control is set to
the ‘no steam’ setting (0).
Set the steam control to a steam setting (1-6).
The water tank is empty. Fill the water tank.
The iron leaks. The water tank is overlled. Do not ll the water tank beyond the MAX
indication.
Water leaks out of
the soleplate when I
ll it with water.
The steam control is set to a
steam setting (1-6) when you
ll the water tank.
Set the steam control to 0 (= no steam) when
you ll the water tank.
The shot-of-steam
function does not
work properly.
You have used the shot-of-
steam function too often
within a very short period.
Put the iron back onto the stand until the
temperature light goes out to indicate that
the iron is ready for use again. Always set the
temperature dial to 3 or MAX when you
use the shot-of-steam function.
Flakes and impurities
come out of the
soleplate during
ironing.
Hard tap water causes
akes to develop inside the
soleplate.
Use the shot-of-steam function repeatedly to
remove akes and scale from the soleplate. We
advise you to use demineralised water if the tap
water in your area is too hard. You can also use
the Calc-Clean function.
